Education for staff, volunteers and agents

All staff, volunteers, and agents (physicians) are provided with training about the Customer Service Regulation as required by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. Training includes information on the legislation, how to treat people with a disability, the use of support persons, service animals and guide dogs, the availability of resources both within the hospital and in the community, how to access those resources, and methods for the public to provide feedback to the hospital.

Training is provided at the Hospital Wide Orientation for new staff and volunteers; existing staff are completing training through an on-line learning module in partnership with the Ontario Hospital Association. Updates regarding changes to the provision of services are provided through regular hospital communication channels.
