Patient Services
Diagnostic Imaging Services

Barium studies are used to diagnose disorders of the gastro-intestinal tract. These are performed on varying days per month from 8:00am-12:00pm. Request for barium studies are arranged through a physician. Currently this service is not being offered due to equipment upgrading. Service is to recommence in fall 2010. Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) is used to diagnose osteoporosis. BMD is performed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:30am-4:30pm. Requests for BMD are arranged through a physician. Bookings line (519) 621-2333 ext. 2231.

Cardiac Nuclear Testing is performed by Cardiologists and Nuclear Medicine physicians in the Nuclear Medicine Department. This test demonstrates the blood supply within the heart muscle in resting and stress phases. They are performed Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm. Requests for Cardiac Nuclear Testing are arranged through a physician. Currently we are performing these tests daily depending on the supply of the required radioisotope. Computed Tomography (CT Scans) are used to diagnose bone and soft tissue injuries, chest, abdominal, renal, pelvic disorders, stroke, tumors and cancer. CT is performed on Monday to Friday 7:00am-6:00pm. Requests for CT are arranged through a physician. Bookings line (519) 621-2333 ext. 2244.

Mammography is used to diagnose diseases of the breast. Women under the age of 50 must have a requisition for a mammogram from either their physician or an Extended Class Nurse (Nurse Practitioner). Mammograms are performed Tuesday to Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm. Bookings line (519) 621-2333 ext. 2231.

Ontario Breast Screening Program provides top-quality mammography services as well as follow up appointment reminders. Cambridge Memorial Hospital is accredited to participate in the Ontario Breast Screening Program. Women aged 50 and over can participate in the program by simply calling the hospital directly at (519) 740-4999 to schedule an appointment. OBSP screening mammography is performed on Monday from 12:00pm-8:00pm and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00am-4:00pm.

Nuclear Medicine studies organ functions and identifies conditions such as blood clots in the lungs, bone cancer, heart failure, etc. These studies are performed Monday to Friday from 7:00am-4:30pm. Requests for Nuclear Medicine are arranged through a physician. Bookings line (519) 621-2333 ext. 2245.

Special procedures use fluoroscopic X-Ray to assist in joint injections, cystograms, hysterosalpingograms, etc. These are performed on varying days per month 1:00pm-3:00pm. Requests for special procedures are arranged through a physician. Currently this service is limited due to equipment upgrading. Full service is to recommence in fall 2010. Ultrasound is used to study structure and anatomy of organs, muscles and joints, monitor pregnancies and identify blocked arteries and blood clots in deep veins. Ultrasound is performed on Monday to Friday from 7:00am-6:00pm. Limited appointments are available on Saturdays and Sundays. Requests for Ultrasound are arranged through a physician or an Extended Class Nurse (Nurse Practitioner). Bookings line (519) 621-2333 ext. 2231.

X-Ray studies are used to diagnose injuries to bones, for chest, sinuses, and abdomen disorders, cancer, etc. X-Ray studies are performed Monday to Friday from 7:30am-4:30pm. Patients can book appointments or walk in with a signed requisition from a physician or an Extended Class Nurse (Nurse Practitioner). X-Rays for Scoliosis, Leg Lengths and Skeletal Survey studies must be pre- booked. Bookings line (519) 621-2333 ext. 2231.
