In the summer of 1999, the hospital’s Emergency Department, in which trauma care is provided, prepared for accreditation as a District Trauma Centre. A committee was formed with Emergency Nurses, Deb Prno, and Nancy Easton, Physician, Dr. Paul Quinlan, the Coordinator, Karen Packer and the Program Manager, Diane Wilkinson of Critical Care.

They led the process of accreditation, completed the required documentation, and prepared for a visit by the Accreditation Team which occurred on October 10, 2000. To acknowledge this accomplishment, a plaque was presented by Diane Wilkinson to the Emergency Room staff followed by a luncheon celebration.
