Cambridge, ON - Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in consultation with the Region of Waterloo Public Health, has declared an end to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Medicine B Unit (Wing B, level 4). The outbreak was first declared on January 19, 2022 and there has not been a new case of COVID-19 in that unit for the past 10 days.
In total, 26 patients and six staff were identified as having healthcare acquired infections.
For the first time since January 4, CMH is not in outbreak. With the Province opening up and communities moving away from pandemic protocols, CMH is maintaining its current visitor policies that include visitors being fully vaccinated, wearing a hospital issued mask at all times and maintaining physical distancing when in hospital. This added measure of protection is due to the continued high prevalence of COVID in our community and to protect the resumption of services that could become stalled if more outbreaks occur.
