With the unanimous endorsement of the Board, I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Winnie Lee has accepted the role of Chief of Staff, effective immediately.
Dr. Lee has been a member of our Medical Staff since 2008 and has shown collaborative leadership through a number of progressive positions, including: President of the Medical and Professional Staff Association, Diagnostic Imaging Site Lead, Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, Deputy Chief of Staff and more recently, two significant tenures as Interim Chief of Staff. She sits on a number of regional and provincial committees and is an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct) and Preceptor at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine.
Winnie is committed to and an absolute champion of CMH. Since joining us, she has been instrumental with the expansion of services and often partners with the Foundation to engage with the community. She helped modernize efforts for the recruitment and credential processes for medical/professional staff and assisting in the development of the 2019 Clinical Services Plan. Dr. Lee helped to establish CMH’s Diagnostic Imaging Department as the first in the province to integrate an electronic referral platform (Ocean Portal) and more recently, her determination brought in Magseed technology that advanced the standard of breast cancer care within our region.
Yet, it was her leadership throughout the pandemic that her mettle truly shone. Dr. Lee quickly established herself as a trusted voice, tirelessly researching everything about the pandemic. Her opinion was not only relied upon by the hospital but sought after by the community and media. Her calm and unhurried style instilled hope when the information quickly changed about a novel virus. Whether it was going out onto the floors or sharing her knowledge with her community, Winnie never hesitated to provide a relevant context to the issues of the day.
Born and raised in Toronto, Dr. Lee completed her BSc and MSc degrees at the University of Toronto (UofT), following which she graduated from the Medicine program and completed her residency in Diagnostic Radiology and subsequently a Clinical Fellowship in Cross-Sectional Imaging, all at the UofT.
Upon completing her medical training, Dr. Lee moved to Cambridge with her family, where she raises her two children and enjoys being part of the community. When Dr. Lee is not working, you can be certain she is either learning or giving extra attention to her pandemic puppy! Winnie is also an avid foodie, enjoying both cooking and dining experiences.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Winnie Lee as our Chief of Staff.
