On Wednesday, April 15, Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) is moving its Emergency Department entrance to the front of the hospital.
Please take a moment to learn more about this move so that you know where to go in case you need emergency health care services at CMH:
Why is the Emergency Department entrance moving?
The Emergency Department entrance is moving because of the construction of the new tower. The entire west side of the hospital is closing so that it can be can be built.
Where is the Emergency Department entrance moving to?
The new Emergency Entrance is moving to the front of the hospital. A new triage center is built near the entrance. When you visit the hospital, follow the signs. There will be an EMERGENCY sign over where you will need to enter. For more information, please review the map.
Where do I register and get triaged for emergency care?
The new Emergency triage centre will be very close to the relocated Emergency entrance. A nurse will triage you and you will register in this room. Please know the room is smaller than the current wait room. If it gets busy, we may ask your loved ones to wait in a nearby area. Rest assured, you will always have one family member with you at all times.
Will there be parking near by?
Yes. On April 15, a parking lot (Lot #4) is reopening up in front of the hospital. You may also park in Lot #3, to the side and behind the hospital and go through the Main Entrance. This entrance is open 24 hrs.
Will this move be permanent?
No. A much larger and more modern Emergency Department will be located in the new tower. Once it is built, we will move the Emergency Department to its new, permanent location. This will happen in late 2016, early 2017.
