Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in consultation with the Region of Waterloo Public Health, has declared an end to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Inpatient Surgery Unit (Wing B, level 3). The outbreak was first declared on January 7, 2022. There has not been a new case of COVID-19 in that unit for the past 10 days.
In total, nine patients and 10 staff contracted the virus.
Enhanced cleaning measures, safety audits and the added staff-only spaces for breaks remain in place. Visitor restrictions remain 100% virtual as there are still two active outbreaks within the hospital:
- The Medicine B Unit COVID-19 outbreak was declared on Jan. 19. At this time, thirteen (13) patients and no (0) staff have been infected. The last case detected was on February 1, which targets the earliest possible end date to February 12, if no cases are found.
- Inpatient Mental Health was declared on January 30. Three (3) patients have been infected during this outbreak. The earliest possible end date to this outbreak February 8, if no new cases arise.
- The Rehabilitation Unit outbreak was declared over on February 2
