Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in consultation with the Region of Waterloo Public Health, has declared an end to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Medicine B Unit (Wing C, level 4) today, October 24. The outbreak was first declared on October 3, 2022. Measures, such as enhanced cleaning and visitor restrictions were put into place immediately and there has not been a new case of COVID-19 in that unit for the past 10 days.

In total, five patients were identified as having healthcare acquired infections. No staff were affected by the outbreak.

With the increasing number of COVID cases in our community and the onset of flu season, CMH continues to maintain its masking policy. Anyone coming into hospital for work, for treatment or to visit must wear a hospital-issued mask at all times and maintaining physical distancing when in hospital. Surgical masks can be found at mask dispensers at all public entrances. CMH also urges everyone to keep their flu and COVID vaccinations up to date as being immunized is best way to keep yourself and your family safe from severe illness.
