Waterloo Region residents advised to seek testing at local assessment centres if showing signs of COVID-19

Waterloo Region – All residents are advised to seek testing at a local assessment centre if they are showing symptoms of COVID-19. Residents are also directed to seek testing if they have been exposed to a confirmed case or if they have screened positive on a rapid test. Assessment and testing centres in Waterloo Region have capacity to test all eligible individuals.

COVID-19 is circulating in our community and testing is an essential strategy to our ability to control and limit the spread of COVID-19. It is important for all local residents who are eligible to book an appointment to get tested. Region of Waterloo Public Health receives all positive test results and engages in case and contact management to further limit the spread.

“To really understand COVID-19 in our community, testing and contact tracing must continue as it needs to,” said Lee Fairclough, Hospital Lead, Waterloo Region Health Sector Control Group and President of St. Mary’s General Hospital. “We encourage people that if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19 at all, please visit one of our assessment centres and get tested.”
