Visiting a Patient
A visit can have a positive effect on a patient’s wellbeing. Family and friends are welcome to provide support and company while a patient is in hospital. To ask where a patient is located or a patient’s phone extension, please call switchboard at ext. 0 or the information desk in the main lobby, ext. 2110.
Visiting Hours
Daily regular visiting hours are from 1400 to 2000 hrs. (2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.). CMH recognizes that at times, there may be a need to visit beyond these hours. These requests will be considered on a case by case basis in consultation with the patient’s care team.
General Guidelines
- Only two visitors are to be with a patient at any one time.
- Visitors under 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult caregiver at all times.
- Visitors may be asked to leave a patient's room to facilitate care.
- Wash your hands using the wall mounted hand sanitizers, especially before entering and leaving a patient’s room. Help control the spread of infection in hospital.
- There may be other visitor guidelines unique to different clinical areas (i.e., Oncology, Women’s and Children’s Health, Critical Care). The care team will explain these to visitors.
Birthing Unit
- The only children allowed to visit obstetrics are brothers and sisters of the baby.
