Cambridge Memorial Hospital declares an end to the COVID-19 outbreak in Rehab
Cambridge, Ontario – Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in consultation with the Region of Waterloo Public Health, has declared an end to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Rehabilitation Unit (Wing B, level 3). The outbreak was first declared on February 25, 2021. There has not been a new case of COVID-19 in that unit for the past fourteen days.
In total, 16 patients and 14 staff contracted the virus. Four patients died as a result of their illness. Enhanced cleaning measures, safety audits and the added staff-only spaces for breaks remain in place. Visitor restrictions have been lifted and the unit will resume admissions as of April 7, 2021. Many thanks to Rehabilitation Unit, Environmental Services, Health Safety & Wellness and Infection Prevention and Control staff for their vigilance to contain the virus and their commitment to safety throughout the outbreak.
